Question by Ty: Anyone know an easy way to attach cat 3 wire to a phone block without a punch-down tool?
I’m adding a phone line to my home and don’t want to buy a punchdown tool for just one job. Has anyone devised a way to get the wire into the phone block without a punchdown tool?

If you have a 66 block, just push the wire in between the pins and squeeze them together with needle-nose pliers. If you have a 110 block, you can use the end of a flat screwdriver to push your wire into place. These methods will work in a pinch but may I suggest that, if you have a punch-down connecting block in your home, you might want to consider just buying a cheap tool. It may come in handy some day if any troubleshooting becomes necessary.
