Question by sharks blade: Are there any natural remedies for a feline urinary tract infection?
I think my cat has a UTI and I wanted to know if there are any natural remedies to help him. I’ve called all the vets and they say that it is between $ 80-150 just to walk in the door. And for a UTI they have to use a needle and that adds about $ 50 to the bill. And there will be even more fees. I’ve heard that cranberry juice helps people with UTIs and I was wondering if that might work for my cat or if there were any other remedies I could try.

Hi there…unfortunately, most home remedies for managing UTI’s fail to produce effective results especially in male cats as they are prone to getting urinary blockages. This can become life-threatening with 24-48 hours which would then require surgery to unblock the urethral plug or the bladder will rupture into the abdominal cavity. http://www.peteducation.com:80/article.cfm?cls=1&cat=1372&articleid=214
Alternatively there are organizations that will help with veterinary bills: http://www.felinediabetes.com/vetbills.htm
