I don’t really know what to explain here, so I will tell you about what I lived with her. Ckathia, (meaning in an asian language of small) was my first pet. We got her since she was 1 month old, at May, 2004. She spent with us all her lifetime. There was a moment when I almost lost her as she sneaked though the front door of my house without being noticed, after one day of pure suffering we found out that she, being too confused about where she was, stayed just two house away in a garden, hidden. When she turned 3 years and 6 months old (which is near half of her lifetime) we got her a female buddy, Ckucka (asian name for playful). They got along really quick and spent hours playing in the garden all by themselves, something I found very funny was when Ckucka hid between some plant branches and waited for Ckathia just for jump over Ckathia. It all was really nice through that time, until this year began. Ckathia started to show more exhaust than normal, lying on the ground after playing, or sleeping for much more time. At first we thought she was just copying the conduct of Ckucka (who’s pretty lazy). But then it became more frequent. So we decided to take her to the vet at middle March, at that time we received terrible news regarding Ckathia’s health: she was adrenal. So when we found out that I started to spend the most time with her and pleasing her. By the beginning of June she started to worsen until a point where she couldn’t walk further than a meter without lying …

Dick DeVries Sr. saw a small triangle of land in front of DeVries Grocery & Market in La Grange as something of a pet project years ago. A group of friends volunteered their time Sunday planting a variety of flowers and plants at the triangle to commemorate the memory of the DeVries, who died May 21, 2008, at the age of 73.
