Question by clare t: Could my cat be the one who gave my Kitten fip?
I have just had my beautiful little baby kitten put to sleep due to fip, my six year old has just been and had blood tests for her teeter levels, does anyone know how likely it is that she may of passed the disese onto my kitten, i amm absolutley petrified of getting another kitten and it all happening again because my older cat keeps giving it to them. My kitten was tiny when i purchased him from the breeded so i am quite convinced there was problems from the beginning?

Yes FIP is contagious to other cats. It isn’t contagious to dogs or humans. It is strictly a disease passed from cat to cat.
Did you test your cat after discovering the kittem had it? I am asking this because it is possible the kitten was born with it and passed it on to your cat instead of the other way around.
You say the titers were checked? Does this cat infact have FIP? If so maybe putting it to sleep would be a better option?
