Question by SavannahDancer: Do declawed cats still use scratching posts?
I recently adopted a declawed 8 year old female cat. I noticed she still likes to “scratch” her paws on carpets and other rough surfaces. Would it benefit her if I get her a scratching post? Do declawed cats still use these? Thanks!

Yes, indeed they do. Scratching is a marking behavior and cat’s do like to exercise their claws. With a declawed cat, the need to scratch is still very persistent so getting her a scratching post is a good idea.
