An art installation consisting of 500 plastic dog bowls has raised approximately .500 towards building a public dog park in Provincetown. The installation, located in front of the Denny Camino Gallery, 205 Commercial St., has been in place since July. Passersby are encouraged to toss their change into the water-filled bowls, creating a carnival-like atmosphere that draws crowds every day. The appeal of the installation has surprised both the artist, Denny Camino, and dog park organizers, who had hoped to collect the change once a week but who now pick up the money and refresh the water bowls twice a day. The installation will remain in place into September.
