Question by cyruscleo: Have you ever heard of a cat spaying not taking?
I’ve had my two cats for 4.5 (female) and 5 (male)years. Both were purchased from the human society and both were spayed/neutered when I purchased them. They occasionally play outside when we are with, but one night my female cat escaped us and was out for 2-3 hours w/out us. Tonight we noticed her nipples are looking enlarged. To me, they just look kind of large, to my husband he says he thinks they looks a little pink. How pink should they be? Is it possible she’s pregnant even though she was supposed to have been spayed? Can it not take?

I have never heard of a “spaying not taking” because spaying removes the reproductive organs. She could be having a false pregnancy – that I have heard of. That said, if she starts to put on weight, take her to your vet – Murphy’s law is always a possibility.
