Question by dumbttt: How much does it cost to declaw a cat and what complications?
My cat scratches furniture. Right now I am still trying other remedies, but if he continues, I would have no choice but to declaw him.
How much does it cost to declaw a cat (I prefer the method where they cut the tenden so he can no longer extend the claws)? What complications should I be aware of?
Note: I am not interested in receiving a lecture on how it is inhumane or cruel to declaw the cat, etc, etc. I asked two simple questions: what is the cost of declawing (in turns of $ $ $ ), and what are the post surgery complications (behavior, medical, etc).
I don’t care if you think it is cruel to declaw the cat, and I don’t care if he will have part of his fingers removed.

Please only do this as a last resort. It’s really awful for the kitty.
That aside, you can expect between 300-500, the tougher part is finding a vet willing to do it. A lot of them have stopped the practice.
Infection is the most common complication, very simple to deal with. Mostly your cat is going to be pissed off for a while, and very irritable while he learns new defense strategies 🙂
