Take your friend some flowers or get her a nice sympathy card. Your cat should have regular checkups at the vet, and bloodwork for kidney disease and thyroid disease and urinalysis, plus chest x rays and ultrasound for heart disease to rule out the main problems in older cats. This should be repeated at least yearly to make sure she stays healthy. Try to feed her both canned and dry food, more canned than dry, and mix up the types of food and flavors that you give her so she doesn’t get stuck on one flavor (be careful, she may already be stuck on one since she is this old!). She may live until 15-19 years old so long as her kidneys, thyroids, and heart stay healthy. way to go!
