Question by boadude90: How to tell for certain if my cat has FIP?
My cat has been sick lately he ran a high fever and he begin to drool. We took him to the vet and found out that he was anemic and was having problems with his liver.
My vet says it could or could not be FIP. He prescribed my cat an antibiotic and a vitamin supplement.
What could my cat have?

A vet I was working with one time thought that a cat had FIP because she had uveitis of the eye. We sent out some blood to have tested. The test that we did also tested for several fungal agents that may have caused the issue. I can’t remember if it cost $ 127 or $ 172 to have the test done (I’m slightly dyslexic with numbers and we don’t do that test often). Obviously you can choose a test that looks for less potential causes and that would reduce the price if cost is an issue.
So, in short, there are several panels of tests that will test specifically for FIP and can be done with a little bit of blood plasma or serum from your cat.
