Question by Nail Biter: My cat may have FIP, but can it be something else?
I’ve lost a cat to what was believed to be FIP, but it wasn’t proven. My current cat was exposed to this cat before she died.
Before I got my cat he was diagnosed with an upper respirtory infection, and he has always been sneezing, once or twice a day, and has had plenty of nasal discharge, and some eye discharge. He responded to some medicine my vet gave me (sneezing and discharge), but that was a few months ago, and it has worn off. He is having problems with one of his eyes, it is cloudy and slightly more dilated than the other. He has lost weight. He is less than a year old. Is there ANYTHING that he MIGHT have other than FIP? I know what all the signs point to, but I would like to know if there is any chance of him surviving.
I’ve had many cats, but none of them I’ve loved more than this one. I’m bawling my eyes out just thinking of what might happen. I would give ANYTHING for him to live. Anything…

The only eprson you can trust with medical questions about your pet is your vet. There is no reason to freak out over what people here tell you. There is no way to see how qualified people are here, and while many people think docotrs are idiots they do generall go to school and go through training for 10 years, so you don’t really need to worry about the vet missing things. Yes, they are human and can make mistakes, but even a vet online is in no position to make a diagnosis. Listening to people here will probably jsut stress you more. If you don’t like your vet, try and get another one. Trust the professionals.
