Question by ShaShaMiL: What are some changes I should expect in my cats behavior after having him neutered today?
He is 15 months old and used to meow ALOT to go outside.
Answer by Shelly P
he’ll still want outside, but he won’t be so driven to go to find females in heat.
He’ll be a bit sore for a couple days, may be groggy for a short time. DOn’t be surprised if he kinda lazes around for a day or two..
The only real behavioral changes will be positive. He’ll be less agressive and hopefully will stop spraying (although if he’s a sprayer, neutering doesn’t guarantee to stop it. He should have been neutered at 6 months or earlier to prevent spraying behaviors. But neutering MIGHT stop him if he is a sprayer. If you’re lucky. Wish people would all educate themselves and spey/neuter at 6 months. So many male cats are given away, passed from house to house and eventually end up in the gas chamber becuase their owners didn’t fix them when they were young, and now they have a spraying problem.)
Anyway, he should be a happier, healthier, more laid-back cat. (But still playful))
