Question by Holographer: Why do some cats care about the orientation of my hand when I pet them?
For instance, some cats freak out if I pat them on the head from the front, and reach my arm over their faces.
But these same cats don’t really care if I use another angle, and pat them from above or from behind, so that my arm is not blocking their faces.
Why is this?

Some cats could have been miss-treated when they were young. For instance if a cat was beat on the head, than they wouldn’t really like their head to be touched because of the years of pain. Hope this helps. Also, some cats like to see you, because they might think you’re a predator.
