During the second major snow storm within days, I decided to get out my video camera and see what birds would be visiting my suet feeders. I have two kinds. The traditional wire cage suet feeder and a suet log. Both were suspended from thin tree branches right outside my dining room window. The Dark-eyed Juncos were at all my feeders today, but did spend a lot of time at both suet feeders. One of my favorite birds, the Carolina Wren, hung out in this tree most of the day. A Downy Woodpecker stopped by a few times and I caught two suprise visitors on camera during their very brief landing. I replenished my ranch and platform feeders, with my own blend of bird seed, three times today, knocking off several inches of snow each time. I’ll be looking out my window again this weekend (Feb 12th-15th) and actually counting the number of birds I see during the Annual Great Backyard Bird Count.
