Timmy’s turtle pond. This raised pond was built on August 23, 2008 in Honolulu, Hawaii–average temperature 80 degrees year round. It is currently home to several goldfish (feeders), several tilapia, a few turtles (young RES, male RES, and a ..i think a florida red bellied cooter or yellow bellied turtle), a few plecos, and a couple shrimp/prawns. Build pictures and information: www.redearslider.com thanks for watching! UPDATE 5/17/09: I have purchased the Laguna Max-Flo 900 pump for my pond. This is a great pump with a large cage covering it (which found on sale for at Pets Solutions online store). I find this necessary because my turtles always chomp off hyacinth roots, which clogs the pump. (Coincidentally, and unfortunately, once I ordered this pump, my current 350 gph failed and I had a mini-Exxon Valdez on my hands…) UPDATE: 5/25/09: This past month either the tilapia or the gold fish laid tons of eggs. I think its the tilapia. There have probably been hundreds of hatched fry already. The tilapia, with their big mouth opening, just suck them all up. My turtles are learning how to hunt, too. However, I did set aside at least a hundred in my small bathtub pond. I also left some in the pond. Survival of the Fittest! -TRU PRODUCTIONS
