Question by lisee11087: Strange cat behavior….is this serious?
Our cat, Louie is roughly 3 years old. He is a Selkirk Rex (“curly haired Persian). Lately he has developed some strange eating habits.Louie is not overweight. He is a normal weight.
However, he overeats at the food bowl and loves to drink water from the faucet. His eyes are bigger than his stomach. After a ton of food and water, he vomits. With no hesitation, Louie is right back at the food bowl eating again. This occurs 2-3 times a week.
Louie is active, playful with no lethargy or signs that he is feeling ill. Should we be concerned? Or just regulate his feeding/drinking?

I had never heard of that breed before, so I googled it and I WANT TO USE YOUR CAT AS A PILLOW.
At any rate, my male cat, Rodney, was an eater, too. If food was available, he just scarfed it down. I had to switch to controlling his portions.
If you do that, water consumption isn’t a problem. To curb the faucet habit, consider a petmate fresh flow fountain with the free-flowing water. It holds tons of water, can be cleaned out 1-2 times weekly, and it encourages cats to drink with the constant water movement. Mine hydrate extremely well.
