This casting is a 2500 lb. duplex stainless steel bush. The symmetrical positioning of the two banks of ingates and four feeders revealed an interesting situation. The feeders positioned directly above the ingates were subjected to the presence of an evolved flow channel thermal. The remaining two feeders were not subjected to the effects of the flow channel thermal and were, as a result, SIGNIFICANTLY colder. In fact, the “HOT” feeders stayed liquid with the ability to feed the casting for 7.8 minutes longer than the “cold” feeders.
