Question by maple: Was the fur on Sesshomaru’s shoulder a sign of status in Ancient Japan?
Was the fur on Sesshomaru’s shoulder a sign of status in Ancient Japan? Such as in Feudal lords or Damiyou’s? Or is Sesshomaru’s pelt simply an accessory that’s only in the manga?
I don’t think that his pelt is his tail being that it isn’t connected to his body & when he transforms into a inugami youkai the pelt is transformed as a mane like a lion. ^_~
Was the pelt actually worn in real life by damiyo’s & such to display their statis? Or is it simply an ordorment just for the manga series? 🙂

It cold be both. You do have to admit though, he looks better with his pelt than without it!
