Question by Crizpy: What are the symptoms of cat scratch fever?
My cat just went berserk on me and I was wondering if anybody knew the symptoms of cat scratch fever. I have 2 claw holes on my hand.

same type of symptoms that you would have if you got a mild case of the flu. general tiredness, lack of appetite, aching muscles and joints, sometimes headaches. if you think you have bartonella henselae then go to the doctor. you will be given a 3 week course of antibiotics (zithromax). wash the wound site with warm soapy water and peroxide, then apply an antibiotic ointment. I work in a shelter and have been scratched hundreds of times. just get that scratch cleaned up. bites are a different matter and you should go to the doctor if you sustain a “real” bite from a cat
