Question by Olive: What should I say to their rude comments about my pomchi?
I am the PROUD owner of a 3.5 lb Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. He is the sweetest, most happy and loving dog you will ever meet. He is obedient, funny, and wags his tail at anyone who approaches him. Riley is intelligent and well trained.
What really gets under my skin, though, is when rude and uninformed people deliberately say mean things about Riley to my face! They say he is a “rat dog” or a “yappy ankle biter” or some will even say to me that Riley is ugly. People, this dog is like a child to me (I’m not crazy, just really love my dog); I just do not understand why some people think it is OK to say these kind to things about my dog. I would never say anything about them, their dog, or their kids so why do they think it is ok to say rude comments to me?
I am sick of hearing the typical stereotypes about small dogs…especially chihuahua’s. People assume that because I am a female in my twenties that I am trying to be like Paris Hilton with my purse dog. He is NOT my little accessory and he is NOT yappy, shaking in fear, or anywhere NEAR rat looking. He is simply a smaller breed of dog…and a damn cute one at that.
So does anybody have any suggestions about something tactful and witty I could reply to these people? I am not looking to insult or start a fight…just to put people in their place and inform them how inappropriate and unsolicited their comments are.
I said “pomchi” to make the title short and sweet. Sheesh, it’s so judge-y in here…I was innocently asking for advice, not criticism. Thanks to everyone else for being so compassionate!
Answer by Ashley Say NO to breeding mutts!
Then show people how well behaved and cute he is and don’t call him a “Pomchi”.
