Question by farscape29: Why does our cat want us to watch her eat?
My wife and I got a cat about a year ago from the city shelter. The shelter estimated that she is about 3 years old. I’m not a cat person, but I love our cat.
But occassionally, our cat will become very insistent (meowing, crying) until one of us follows her into the kitchen. Then once we’re there, she’ll start to eat. She doesn’t do this all the time, but I haven’t been able to figure out a pattern. I know I don’t know much about cat behavior (I’m more of a dog person), but my wife who has grown up with cats is mystified by the behavior as well.
Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Honestly, I’m not sure why they do this but I have a friend whos cat does the same thing but she will NEVER eat unless my friend is in the room with her. Maybe they want company – I’m not sure. My cat does not do this, I got her as a kitten but maybe from being in a shelter, she’s used to people watching her when she eats. My friend also adopted an adult cat.
