Question by Steve K.: Why the HECK does the cat do this?
My wife’s cat has adopted a fleece blanket. We had made her up her own little bed, though she could care less about it, so long as she has this blanket.
My question is, why does she lick it while purring and kneading it? She’s obsessed with this blanked… you wouldn’t believe how loudly she purred when it came back out of the laundry. And she does the same thing, purr, lick, and knead, over and over again. Why??
Security is a possibility….
I think I should probably add that she is half Maine Coon and half Himalayan. I know she has a lot of quirks that only Coon cats have (like the ability to chirp like a bird). She’s unspayed (she’s extremely small, so we figured it’d be safer to wait until she’s bigger before we spay her) and less than a year old.
I’m not really worried about it, nor do I care that she’s taken it over, I’m more or less wondering why she licks and kneads it.

She loves the blanket. She feels secure with it.
